There are many positive benefits that come with Martial Arts training, especially for children. Today we’ll look at the Top 5 Benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes for your child, in no particular order.

Before getting into the list, I should tell you that we actually have a monthly system of Life Skill packets for children to complete at home with their parents. We’re committed to working side-by-side with parents to raise healthy, responsible young adults.

  • Realistic and Safe Self-Defense Skills. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a modern martial art, created in the 20th century to allow smaller people to defeat bigger, stronger adversaries. Unlike martial arts like Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, etc. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does not require punching or kicking, so your child will be able to defend themselves without getting in trouble.
  • Fantastic Exercise. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu promotes cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility. In addition, at Paramount BJJ we use obstacle courses, relay races, and other games to keep the kids excited, focused, and in great shape.
  • Confidence. As your child practices with his/her teammates, they will start to execute the techniques and their confidence will sky-rocket! We see time and time again the most shy and nervous children becoming more confident as they continue to attend class. It really is amazing.
  • Focus and Discipline. We have a ton of fun in class, but we still require our students to demonstrate focus and discipline at home, school and at Paramount.
  • Positive Thinking. This is something that many martial arts school miss, and many children struggle with. When they face adversity, many children immediately resort to the “I stink” mindset. Jiu-Jitsu classes are tough, but we work hard to show students that every set-back helps us improve, whether it’s in Jiu-Jitsu, a test at school, a fight with a friend, etc. We can always learn from our

These, and all of the life skills in our 13-month system, require time to build. But we’re patient, persistent, and dedicated to each and every one of our students. For more information on Paramount BJJ click HERE or call us at 610-269-1127.

In the meantime, take a look at what some of the parents had to say about our Children’s Program:
